About Results |
The search results found using Dogpile.co.uk are compiled via an innovative metasearch
technology which queries many leading search engines at once and delivers outstanding
results in one click.
|
The results include paid-for as well as free listings. All paid-for results are
labelled "sponsored", either before or after the web address of the paid-for search
result.
|
Dogpile.co.uk is designed to identify the intent of a user's search. If the search
term (i.e. "buy roses") is determined to be commercial in nature, a blended mix
of results weighted toward sponsored results would be displayed. In the case of
a non-commercial term (i.e. "roses and aphids"), the blended mix of results would
be weighted toward research-driven results.
|
The technology applied by Dogpile is designed to provide the best possible combination
of paid-for and free results for each search query.

First Page Results from Top Four Engines Don't Have Much in
Common. |
There is a common belief by Web searchers that all search engines are the same.
But a recent research study shows that only 1.1% of the first page results across
the four leading engines are identical.[1]
|
These findings underscore the importance of searching the Web with multiple engines
to find more top ranked results. Whether they know it or not, many people are already
metasearching. comScoreshows that people use an average of 2.8 engines per month
for their searches.[2]
|
Dogpile.co.uk eliminates the need to go from site to site looking for top results
because it searches Google, Yahoo!, Live Search and Ask.com all at once.

According to other research, just over half of all Web searches at the top four
engines result in clicks on the first results page.
|
comScore Media Metrix found that between 31% - 56% of all first page searches on
the top search engines are successful, compared to 63% at our US site, Dogpile.com.[3]
|
This is further proof that by searching all the leading engines at once, sites such
as Dogpile.co.uk give users a better chance of finding what they're looking for.
